Wait 10 minutes and then yank. Whallah! No more nail. And it is not too painfull at all. I had a huge bloodblister that balloned most of my right baby toe last August during a gruel. When I got home and assessed the injury I decided to puncture the blister and drain it. After that the toenail was hanging on by just a little skin. I twisted it and yanked.
