Painful Injury to Heel

heelpain.jpg

I did a 12-mile run on Sunday and I was fine. On Monday, the back of my right heel felt a little tender, but I was actually used to that. The problem is that since Tuesday, it has been very painful. I can’t even walk properly and flexing my ankle is almost impossible.

This part of my foot has been bothering me on and off, but nothing that has ever prevented me from running. I think I actually have some kind of spur of bone build-up. This is clearly visible. When you look at both heels at the same time, you can see the difference.

That area has always been tender, but the most pain I’ve had was if I accidentally hit it on something, and even then, the pain would go away after 10-15 mins.  This time around, it was not hit.  It just started to hurt all of a sudden.  The mornings are the worse as I assume it gets all stiff from not flexing.  Even as I write this, the whole area is pulsating.

It seems that this injury is going to keep me from running for some time. This is really rather frustrating especially since I seemed to have been on a roll with a couple weeks of what I thought was some great running.
