Chicago Marathon 2007 Training: Week 2

The second week ended on Saturday and went quite well.  The call of the road was too much and I ended up adding in an extra recovery run on one of my rest days.  I also ran a little extra on some of my other runs.  In the end, I ran 38 miles instead of the 32 miles that was actually scheduled in my training plan.  I still only ran 5 days for the week so I had 2 rest days.

The plan this week (and for all future weeks except for the odd recovery week) calls for 5 days of running.  Since that’s a frequency I’m comfortable with, I don’t expect I’ll be throwing in any more additional runs, but I may still tack a bit on to the end of some of my planned runs.

Whew! Off to a great start. I have a couple more weeks but I’m ready!

Just wondering, how close are you monitoring your food intake?

I try to track all the food I eat and also factor in all exercise I do. I’m pretty good Mon through Thu, but Fri through Sun are the worse days.

I notice my weight seems to fluctuate within a 5lb range. I weigh the most on Mon and the least on Thu. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to be actually losing any weight. I think it’s because I eat so badly on the weekends.

It’s a bit discouraging as I really want to hit 160lbs, but it’s seems that it may not be doable anytime soon.

Sounds like my problem too. Especially on the weekends where I have my kids. Seems to me, I’m always eating what they leave behind!
