My injury woes have had me rather down in the New Year. I managed to eck out a 3.2-mile run today, but with some discomfort.
I decided to go see a Sports Medicine specialist. I have an appointment on Thursday morning. I had been reluctant to see a doctor as I didn’t want him/her to tell me to stop running. I guess ignorance was bliss.
It’s at the point now though that my self-treatment isn’t working so I need some professional advice. I’m hoping it’s something simple that can be cured with new shoes, orthortics, or some simple exercises and that I wouldn’t have to stop running for days or weeks on end.
I remarked to my wife how my 3-mile run was so easy today. When I was done, I felt as though I had just gone for a short stroll. I wasn’t out of breath and my legs weren’t tired. This despite the fact that I managed to log my fast average pace ever for the run at 9:18 min/mile over the 3.2 miles.
