Cut-Back Week Before Start of 10K Training

Most training plans you find out there for building mileage would normally have have you increase your mileage for a couple weeks and then cut-back a week before building again.  This is not something I have done at all.  For the last several weeks, I’ve run 16, 20, 20, 20, 25, and 25 miles/week.

This week I’m actually in S. FL on business and I’ve managed to run 21 miles.  I was tempted to run 4 this morning to make it a 25 mile week, but I decided to hold off and finish the week with just 21 miles.  This is my cut-back week :-)

This works out well too as I start my training plan on Sunday for the 10K I’m running at the end of February.  Having an easy week should get me off to a good start.

I’ll post my training plan in the next few days, but it’s basically more mileage with one tempo run each week.  This will be my first speed work that I’ll be doing.
