C25K: Week 4 Day 1

Plan: Run 3 mins, walk 1.5 mins, run 5 mins, walk 2.5 mins.  Repeat once

Actual: Ran 3 mins, walked 1.5 mins, ran 4.5 mins, walked 2.5 mins, ran 3 mins, walked 1.5 mins, ran 2 mins, walked 5 mins

(As you’ll see above, I decided to start each entry with the C25K plan for the day and what I was actually able to do)

Well, I thought doing week 3 was hard, but week 4 is even harder.  This week called for two 5-minute runs and all the walking recovery times were shorter.  So instead of running for say 3 minutes and then walking 3 minutes, week 4 calls for a 1.5 minute walk.

I wasn’t able to complete either of the 5-minute runs.  I did 4.5 minutes for the first and 2 minutes for the second.  The good news is that the 3-minute runs are pretty easy now, whereas I was struggling with them the first time I had to do it.  Maybe by the end of the week I’ll be able to do the 5-minute run with ease

Our elliptical trainer broke on Saturday so we had to buy a new one.  I’ll continue to do the elliptical trainer on the non-running days so maybe that’ll help build up my conditioning.
