C25K: Week 3 Day 2

Success at last!!!!  I’ve been struggling with the second 3-minute run in this week’s workouts.  Previously, I would have to take a 10-15 break about 2 minutes into the run.  Well, today, I completed that second 3-minute run without having to stop.

I was even able to do it without much huffing and puffing.  Normally, when I’m struggling to get air, I would inhale on one step and exhale on the other.  When I’m comfortable, I would inhale over 2 steps and exhale in 2 steps.  That is, I would go: in-in-out-out and repeat, whereas when I’m struggling for air, I would go in-out-in-out Well, I ran the entire 3-minutes with my relaxed breathing.

It’s great being able to measure and see these improvements.

Yesterday I started to throw in an elliptical machine exercise session.  I plan to do the elliptical trainer on the days that I don’t run.  This way, I’ll get some exercise in each day.  It’s a low impact exercise and while I’m still using my legs, I think it’s using slightly different muscles.
